Exclamation Many, many years ago I read that if you're out driving (going fishing) ..

that 1 out of every three cars coming at you/around (0300-0400) you may have a 'Drunk Driver' behind the wheel. I've found no reason to change my mind:

2 killed in alleged DUI crash on Interstate 90 early Sunday
Print Email

"An alleged drunken driver killed himself and an 8-year-old boy in another car when he crashed head-on into a family of four on Interstate 90 early Sunday.

The incident happened around 4:30 a.m. Sunday near the Clinton interchange.

According to Highway Patrol Trooper Drew Novak, the 33-year-old Montana male driver of an older Chevy pickup truck was driving west in the eastbound lane of I-90 when he collided head-on with a red Honda carrying a family of four from Washington state.

The man was ejected from his truck upon impact and died at the scene of the collision.

An 8-year-old boy who was riding in the Honda was also killed.

The driver of the Honda, a 37-year-old man, sustained serious injuries in the crash and was taken to St. Patrick Hospital and then flown to a hospital in Seattle.

The man’s 29-year-old wife and 5-year-old son are in stable condition at St. Patrick Hospital in Missoula.

Novak said the accident, which remains under investigation, appears to be alcohol related. He said the Washington state family was on vacation, heading to the Paradise Valley when the accident happened."

Be safe, and be alert.

And when driving during these vulnerable hours avoid driving in the fast lane.

The majority of wrong way/drunk drivers will choose the "slow lane" while driving in the wrong direction, which in effect is your fast lane.

I was headed to the Vedder last weekend down Hwy 1 coming out of Vancouver when this guy comes flying up behind and then spends the next 15 minutes weaving all over the road behind me and then racing to my bumper and dropping back again. I sped up to 120, he kept up and then I slowed down to 80 and he wouldn't pass. A transport pulls up behind him but can't pass because of the way this guy is weaving all over the road. He finally gets off on on ramp and as he shoots up the ramp I can see his window down and his head rolling around on his shoulders.

Worse part about this had I called the cops on my cell phone I would have gotten the ticket!! First light can sometimes be scary trying to get to the river.

Hey chromerman you won't get a ticket if you dial 911 and any cop that will give you a ticket for calling in a DUI won't be a cop for very long once the word gets out.

Get the plate number and pull over. Call 911 and make the report. You won't get a ticket doing it that way. Guys like that need to be removed from our roads.
I'm on the highway 3 days a week doing a run threw the Okanagan and see this many times. I have a blue tooth headset and call them in once I get a plate number or vehicle id of some sort.
I dont get people that spend $200. on a phone and can't or don't want to spend $50-$100 for a bluetooth.

Good info. Thanks for posting you guys. I did not know about wrong way drivers in your fast lane, thinking that that is their "SLOW LANE"!!

Most traffic accidents I responded on after 0200 hrs. were drunk drivers, sometimes both autos. Something needs to be done about this national problem like much more time in jail for first time DUI. So many of the deadly TC's are from 2, 3, 4 time DUI drivers.

Anyway stay safe and make the 911 call if you can.
Take care.
