That hardy Wye is a strong rod. As far as snake guides go, you can use whatever you think will be good on the rod, maybe try 9-11 snakes and a pair of stripping guides? Location will be best determined by you once your rod is made.. what works as a guide spacing on my rod might not be the best choice for the rod you make... does that make sense?
Try to have the spacing between the guides always increasing from tip to butt and placenthe guides on the rod for an even flex/stress/bend between the guides along the length of the rod when loaded/flexed.
