I'm an archaeologist but now semiretired. Thus I pick the projects I want. Nice when it works but no sure thing.

Interesting. The Erickson Air Crane (helicopter) manufacturing is just a short drive from my home here in White City, Oregon. Dam those things are big, but they can hoist a ton. Aircraft can be configured several different ways, including wild fire suppression. Which is the fun one to watch the crews practice here on the upper Rogue river.

In 'fire mode' the crew will fly up the river right over our heads at Modoc Ponds and flare out over the river a 100 yards up stream, dip this long pipe into the river and suck up something like 3,000 gallons of water in less than a minute. Interesting to hear the change in blade pitch (added lift due to the weight) as that thing fills up.

You can always tell when a crane is coming because it sounds like a banshee. It's one of a kind. I often see them pillaging the last of the old growth on Vancouver Island.

BS in EE, have been in tech sales for the past 12 years. 10 years at Intel and the past couple for HP. It was clear early on that engineering/design work was not going to affordme much fishing time.

Beancounter....Not very exciting, but it pays the bills and allows for a little fun for fishing now and then.

We/I are just shipping logs, not finished product. And to that I have a major objection.
