Steelhead Fly Tying Night (the flies)

Here is the line up from the Friday night tying session. Not all the flies made it to the camera, the head on my second fly was a disaster and a few others in the group saw the blade. It was a great night, more stories than I can tell. A little scotch was consumed and it almost felt like steelhead camp. Allen, like usual, showed up with a bag of goodies. A buddy of his bagged a swan and gave him the hide. The body hackles on a number of the flies (including mine) were tied with a sample of the feathers. Allen dyed them up in beautiful lavender. A couple of the guys stayed focused and cranked some flies out while the majority of the group spent more time off topic. There was a great exchange of information by all and we tied past midnight. I had a great time, so much so, we might just have to do it again before the next excursion. Thanks all for coming and next time I will buy the pizza. I found a little too much cash at my station, felt like a hooker. We will shoot for the mid of January and William get the night off this time, wasn’t the same without you. Good tying and better fishing.

Wish I could have been there Marty. This may sound strange, but I have never tied with another tier.

I'll go another round also, it was a lot of fun. Nice to meet all of you that were there. My sloppy ties look even worse when photographed by Marty.

Hey Rockstar, have you heard the one about the baby seal?

Thanks, Gents...

Nice to see everyone - and put a face to the names!
Thanks to all for sharing your tying, "trade secrets".

And, to Marty and Dec: thanks for giving us a preview of your upcoming book and the amazing photo methods behind the process. Impressive, to say the least!

Jim

My one and only fly -- a simple Usk Grub was tied with purpose: Get it over with and commence to BSing! I had a blast men. It was really a treat to hang out and swap stories and laughs with quality people with like minds. Thanks.

Looking forward to the next event. This time I'll tie a simpler fly...
