Icing conditions

Anyone else find that their rod acts more sluggish when ice starts to cover the tip section. Not just the eyes but the top 8 inches of the rod coated in ice? Im fishing a 13 ft 8 wt this winter.
Or was I just effed up that day trying to cast?

Yup....that ice adds a lot of weight to your tip. It throws the whole balance/action of the rod totally off. I always make a point of knocking it off when it forms. To avoid this i'll put some ice off paste on the tip as well.....winter steelheading in B.C. north rocks

This is an issue for me, too. It's quite obvious when tip icing begins on my 13' Echo and the last time out I tried wiping a thin sheen of Carmex on the tip section. Seemed to take care of the issue but temps were only in the low to mid-20's.
