A few speys

Tied these up the weekend, for a swap. on another salmon forum.

Materials.

Thread- Danville 70 denier, black.
Hook-Bartleet traditional CS10/1 size 10,
Wing- Bronze mallard,
Hackle- Coot,
Collar- Golden pheasant, breast feather dyed red.
Rib- Flat silver,
Cross rib- Red wire.


Single fly.

The swap flies.

Very nice work, that many mallard wings at once would dive me crazy. I could have used those this past week.

Cheers guys, i to love these mallard wings, use them a lot over here on the rivers in south Wales.

Here are a few others, but done with hair. as i find the hair stands up to the teeth of sewin and salmon far better,


Black & red hair wing spey.

Black & orange hair wing spey.

As i did say, these do stand up to more abuse.

Beautiful flies Dai. Now that is the kind of effort i like to see from guys entering swaps. Well done!!!!
If Mike is alluding to Malcolm then i had the pleasure of meeting him as well.

I have a very hard time tying in BM wings on a fly that small. Excellent work!!

It was Malcolm and the lads .... great guys for sure !!! Joe was the gentleman that Dai tied some flies for .... you know the ones that were "no good"

Nicely done. And you already found out that Coot makes a fine heron substitute on smaller flies.

Cheers Dwayne, Thanks for your comments on flies, yes heard you all meet up. was told the fishing was hard, but did see some photos Mike had. what a stunning place and river, makes it all worth going to fish the area. fish or not,
