Line suggestion.

I recently purchased Loop multi 8wt 13" spey rod.

Can someone please suggest me line for this rod?

Also, Loop blue 11.6 8wt.

Thank you!

depends on your intent -
i might be looking for a scandi multi-tip head in the 20-23 gram range, running line of your choice

My 2 cents...

I believe the grain window for that rod is 430grns to 525grns. I would use 510grns to 525grns for a skagit head and 450grns to 480grns for a scandi head.

How you get the line out and fishing is personal preference so as long as it works and is easy no one should care but the caster. MSB

Using a Skagit Head on it.

I have that rod and originally got it as a back up rod.
As I was using it for skagit casting, I always felt I had it underlined until I tried an Airflo compact Skagit 630 grain head. It is a fairly powerful rod and the 630 bends it into the lower part of the rod and it really performs well as a skagit delivery system with that grain weight.... at least in my opinion. I seem way above everyone else who has posted. If you can get your hands on a skagit kit ... try the different grain weights and see what works for you.

I haven't used a floating scandi line on it yet.

I've been wrong before...

Steve, You might very well be right on with your numbers, especially if one is throwing a heavy tip with a dead chicken and using a sustained load anchor.

I used the grain window info I found on the US Loop distributor's website as a starting point. After studying the above website some more I think the numbers I've posted are for scandi heads which would seem to mesh better with your skagit info.
