Need help with reel to balance G Loomis Roaring Rivers switch rod

I need some help with balancing a 7wt & 8wt Switch rod

Will Lamson Velocity 3.5 will work with both?
Or I better get Lamson Velocity 4.0.

I already have sage 2580 will it work?

Thanks in advance

PS

Whole problem that I can't decide between 7 & 8wt

Decision was made!!!

I'm soon to be happy owner of 7wt switch (just won the action of e-**)

Question remains:

What reel should I get for it?

Can I use Sage 2580 (I'm using it on my 8wt single hand or I better go with Lamson Velocity 3.5)

Thanks

I suppose it may matter whether the reel seat is uplock or down but I think your Sage will work just fine. I certainly wouldn't buy another reel until you get the rod and try the Sage. Unless of course you just want to buy another reel

How you get the line out and fishing is personal preference so as long as it works and is easy no one should care but the caster. MSB

for a switcher, a V3.5 should be fine, but if you want more capacity and weight you can go with a V4 without problems; it would likely balance the rod in the middle of the upper grip a little bit tip up.

the 3.5 would be a better choice. the rods are super light....not tip heavy. general rule is, any reel that will balance a 9'6" #8 will balance one of these guys....except for the #5, you could go a bit smaller.

btw-what are your primary applications going to be???....i think i may be able to help you decide between the two. ive spent many days with both.

My primary future use will for Bass during summer (lake fishing with popper flies) and some indie fishing for steelhead/salmon (I hope) during winter/fall (2 trips per year)

Question on the line

Someone recommend me to get Rio Midspey 5/6 as a starter. Can someone confirm if this line going to be good for that rod?
I don’t have any experience with spey casting and I was thinking that I need to get either Elixir or Outbound (based on reviews; I know it's sound stupid)
Thanks

Update

Yesterday I was able to get out for the first time.

Sage 2580 in green color looks really nice with G Loomis Switch

Seems to be it has some balance
