Alaska West - Alaska King Spey Fishing Week Auction!
Thanks to Speypages Sponsor Alaska West , here's a tremendous opportunity for you to support the Speypages and experience the finest Alaska King Spey fishing with guest Speycasting instructor Brian Niska of Whistler Fly Fishing!
Up for auction is the July 5th - July 10th 2008 week at Alaska West's Kanektok operation. You will arrive on July 4th and leave on July 11th. You'll spend 7 nights and 6 full days chasing fresh Kings with your two-hander. This week is right at the peak of the king season, but there are also rainbows and plenty of bright chums around just to keep you on your toes! The regular price for this week of fishing is $4500; bidding will start at $2250. Additional costs to the angler would include travel to Quinhagak, AK (Alaska Airlines flies into Bethel, and Alaska West will arrange a flight from Bethel to Quinhagak that costs $210 round-trip) and gratuities. Lodging, food, guiding, loaner gear included. Double-occupancy—you’ll share a boat and a tent cabin with another angler. Please note there are still a few spots left. So you could go in on this with a friend and book another slot at full price and both of you would be getting a deal on the full price rate. Thanks to Alaska West for their continuing support, and good luck to all bidders! Bid Now!

Update on this....George Cook is not instructing this year, instead it is Brian Niska of Whistler Fly Fishing. A great instructor in his own right and you are sure to learn a ton and oh yeah...the 40lb chrome kings are still coming

I'm sure Alaska West is a great trip and I look forward to spey fishing for salmon there this summer. I've not done the guide camp type trip AW is offering, but I'm sure it is awesome. I've floated the Kanektok from the lake 90 miles upriver and seen a lot of AW groups on the river in the lower 20 miles and floated by their camp a couple times. AW guides are extremely considerate of other river users, which, as an "other" river user, I really appreciate. The fishing is everything they say and more. I'm sure their camp experience is everything they say as well. Trip of a life-time. Well worth it to go, especially if you can get a trip at a good price. After the King season comes the Silver season, which is when I'll be there. The month of August.
