It's good to add new challenges to the sport, I think it refreshes your mind to the reason you started in the first place.

Thumbs up Fred...

Fred,
I always assumed that with your wisdom and experience that you are older than me. In fact you are six weeks younger. So you have obviously aged better. In oak I take it?

It did get ugly AND SAD

Have been thinking about this question and have come to the realization that I am really too young to be this old. Sounds good to me anyways.

Talking Started late and loving it.......

3 years ago in March, I walked through Aaron Reimers door at River Run Anglers in Carnation WA to inquire about Spey rods for steelhead fishing.

I was introduced to the likes of Mike Kinney, Brian Styskal and so many more at Aaron's day on the River on Saturdays. This day on the river set the stage for a new beginning for fishing for steelhead.

I then took Mike Kinney's steelhead fishing class to shorten the learning curve on fly fishing and never looked back. My gear rods are gathering dusk and have been ever since starting this fantastic endeavor.

The Spey community is such a class act and I'm so very lucky to have become a part of it.

I'll turn 68 in September, so I'm one on the bottom of the poll, but no less enthusiastic than the younger folks.

I'm off to the river,
SA

Me just short of 58 but to bring the average down a t tad my boy Hugh 15 is turning into a very competent caster with D/handed rods ,I do have to fish above him still to correct a few faults and make sure he does'nt get washed away !

I'm 32 in the mecca of spey casting.....Downingtown, PA LOL!!!

learned to spey cast on a 6'-6" 4wt on local trout streams before I bought a spey rod for Great Lakes steel. Have been using the long rod for about 20 days a year for the past 4 yrs.

Encouraging

These poll results are very encouraging.
I've seen demographic profiles of fishing, flyfishing, bamboo rod users and fiberglass rod aficianados in other forums I follow, and this is the only one I've ever seen that shows such broad interest across all age groups.

A continuity of participants is the primary essential for future fishing, as long as all are also active in public policy upon which our fish depend.

Now we just need to get more females speyed.

45 years young. My wife reckons I'm de-evolving, as I get older my mental age gets younger. Here's looking forward to infancy!

if you really want a goof, try the RealAge calculator...
http://www.realage.com/default.aspx
I quit when it told me my real age is 72, even though I'm only 48.

32 in less than 2 weeks' time. Feel more like 18 as soon as I step foot in the river, and about 180 once I get my feet up at home.
