Fly casting instruction and single hand fly casting competition announcement

The Bearclaw lodge located on the beautiful headwaters of the Kispiox river will be the location of the second annual fly casting clinic during the weekend of August 19th and 20th.

Saturday Aug. 19th..spey casting instruction covering three predominate spey casting styles including traditional longbelly, Scandinavian underhand, and continuous load skagit style spey casting techniques..

Sunday Aug. 20th..Standard single hand fly casting techniques, equipment, and presentation methods will be discussed.

The cost of instruction is $150.00/day with special rates available for lodging at the Bearclaw Lodge. Flyfishers interested in instruction are encouraged to enroll by August 15th by calling 1-250-847-9300 to register.

Single hand fly casting competition

Sponsored by the Bearclaw lodge and Oscars sporting goods in Smithers, BC...flycasting accuracy and distance techniques will be illustrated by competitors at the second annual fly casting competition to be held in Smithers, BC. Fly casting elimination rounds will be held on Friday August 25th at Chandler park. The finals will be held in the main arena at the Smithers fall fair grounds. Prizes have been donated by G. Loomis Canada and Oscars sporting goods of Smithers B.C..

The hospitality and generosity of the Bearclaw lodge and Oscars sporting goods is second to none, and the scenic beauty of the Skeena country is truly spectacular!...I have the pleasure of providing the fly casting instruction and judging of the casting competition...I hope to see some of you there!

Attention Women and Chlidren fly fishers!

This years fly casting competition in Smithers will include a women and childrens casting competition to be held Thursday evening August 25th at 7pm at Chandler Park.


This will be a fun event for everyone involved...prizes will be available!
