Great Lakes Spey Clave - Newaygo

Well guys, I will miss the great folks, fantastic food and casting, casting, casting and more casting at Newaygo this year. I thoroughly enjoyed it last year but can't pull it off this year.

However I've overnighted the following rods:

Skagit Specialist 13'8" 9wt spey action 4-pc
Tracker 12' 2" 5/6 lightweight spey
Custom 13ft 7/8
Custom 13ft 8/9
Expert 13ft 8/9

Other rods will be there in the hands of CND rod owners in attendance and Great Lakes Flyfishing carries them.

The Tracker is a finesse spey casting tool and should be cast with the Windcutter 5/6 or the Hardy Mach I 8/9 which I presume Andy will have.

The Skagit is great with a range of lines, the new S/A short head is a winner in an 8/9 on that rod, as is the 8/9 Midspey, 8/9/10 Windcutter, or any line in that range will do well on this feather light IM8 all-purpose rod.

Please someone try the Hardy Mach I 10/11 on this rod, I have a feeling it will match it perfectly!

I like the S/A 7/8 medium head, Midspey 7/8, Windcutter 7/8/9, Hardy Mach I 9/10 or other lines with these grain ratings on either the Custom 8/9 or the Expert 8/9.

The Custom 13ft 7/8 is a popular summer run rod in the west, works great with the Rio 6/7 Midspey, the 7/8 Airflo Delta spey, the SA short head 6/7, or other lines in this grain range.

Again I will miss the gang and hope you have a fantastic spey clave. See you next year.

Juro
