Cool Dbf 15'

Hello all,

I lined this with a 10/11 Accelerator which the previous owner of the rod had. The front taper had been cut off at the hinge 14.5' back from the tip so I don't know what the grainage is on this line but it does still load the rod very nicely anywhere out beyond 45' in a snake roll or single spey. I suppose I could fish some tips with this set-up aside from the fact that the line is chewed up and nicked pretty badly- I don't know how it could get that beat up...I fish double handers 150 plus days a year wading and in boats and none of my lines ever looked like this one oh well it is a good practice head but without a scale I am guessing it comes in around 850 grains or so...if anybody can tell me what that front tape weighs it would be very helpful as I do want to match a nice floater to this rod.

Thanks to all for the input so far,
Tom

FYI... Derek Brown Favorite 15' 8/9

After a couple of casting sessions with this rod in August, the reel seat came loose so the rod went back to Winston...two months later it came back to me and in the meantime I picked up a Bill Drury Impact S1/S2 62' mid-belly line. All I can say at this point, after some casting and fishing, is it seems to be an excellent match between line and rod. With a balanced reel (my Marquis3 has 70 yards of leadcore under the backing) and a slowed down top-hand driven stroke it is really an unexpected joy to cast and cover water with either just fishing the head or shooting a bit of line. It changes your perspective the game a bit and kind of reinvigorated me for the long winter ahead on bigger waters...

Tight lines,
Happy holidaze

Tom A.

Tom.... if you ever get the chance you should try out a FF70 and/or a Carron if you are looking for a dryline for the DB. I have played with both lines and settled on a Carron 75 for my Meiser 15. I think that you would be very happy with the results.
