Simms warranty claims
Hi speypagers. I have a leak in the thigh in one of my pair of waders and will be returning them for repair. I have only dealt with Simms via the vendor I bought the product from in the past. This time I would like to deal with them directly. Does anyone know a good rep and have their contact info on hand by chance? If so, please post it or PM it to me if you would be so kind. Cheers!

Thanks for the heads up folks. Just figured I'd throw it out there as I would actually like to speak with a rep and wondered if there was someone people had previously dealt with. Website it is then.

Maybe something to think about is the shipping and possible duty charges. I know when I sent a pair of waders from Ontario to Nevada for repair, when they came back across the border they arrived with a bill from canada customs for duty. Even though the package was clearly marked "warranty repair, no duty".
Just been my experience to let my Canadian dealer handle sending/receiving packages to and from the US as much as possible to avoid duty and shipping charges. Maybe others have had a better experience. Mike. |

I have had a similar experience with Canada Customs (is it called that anymore? how about CRA, the first three letters of a low value commodity?) - a repair of a J Kennedy Fisher rod in Carson City, Nevada sent back to B.C. The position of Canada Customs, CC (as in how many ccs of my blood did you take?) was that the rod was broken when it left Canada, therefore value zero, but once repaired, its value was now 100% of its purchase price when it re-entered the country. So the duty on the rod was paid twice. Let your retailer deal with the bean counters!

I have a couple of pairs that I need to send in as well. What is the usual turn around time (I'm in Oregon)?

I am curious how long mine will take. The first few times I tried calling I got the machine that said this was their busy time of year. A week or two would be great!

Thansk for all the heads up! I have sent stuff back for warranty claims before, via vendor as stated, and still got dinged the duty fees. I figured I would give it a go myself this time to see if I could somehow avoid the charges but it looks like I'm up the creek. What are you going to do?
At least if I bite the bullet and ship them back myself I should have them in less time than shipping through the vendor. I love Simms products and will continue to support them as I at one time or another have tried almost all major manufactures and found their product to be the best (I take care of my stuff but I do put it through its gears). I was dissappointed with Simms however as I bought my first pair of G3's when they first came out (when it was 5 layer up to the knees on the front and 5 layer up over the butt in the back years ago), having to send them back and being replaced with the new G3's. I bought them because they had the 5 layer rear seat in them much as the G4's have now. Will be interesting to see what comes of this after I talked to the rep about it??? |

Hey Pull- wondering where your waders are leaking? If it's at a seam you should send them in. Could be that you'll get new waders rather than your's repaired. But if it's simply a pin-hole or tear in the material, I would advise to repair them yourself and forgo the down time along with shipping costs.

Turn-around time...
I sent my G4's back to Simms recently to have larger booties put on them. I took them to the USPS on a Friday (SF Bay Area). On Tuesday they were evaluated, on Wed. I PayPal'd them for the upgrade, and on Saturday the USPS left the package at my door. Eight days, start to finish. And all through the web.
