..."Hill and Knowlton was also hired by the B.C. Salmon Farmers Association several years ago to help convince British Columbians that open net cage fish farms were not a threat to our province's wild salmon stocks. In B.C., you would think Enbridge would have learned from the salmon farming industry that hiring expensive multinational PR companies does not make for better environmental practices, but only increases public suspicion of industries already suffering from a lack of trust..."

they have been making Kool-aid for a while...

thanks for the link....

Here is a interactive guide so you can see exactly where they want to put this thing.

Exclamation

Is this the underlying reason the pipeline will be built?

"If you (spent) $30 to $50 billion you could take out almost all of the largest Canadian energy companies, and I don't think that it would be the government's plan to have a wholesale transfer of ownership from Canada to China of those assets."

I wonder if this point will be realised by Harper

A spat between the BC and Alberta premiers over royalties when nearly all BC citizens say they do not want the pipeline. It is not difficult to realize that all government revenues will stay with the top government employees.

If oil cannot be exported, gas prices in Canada should drop, shouldn't they?

Heard about this today http://articles.chicagotribune.com/2...il-cnooc-cfius

Why would Chucky Schumer have any influence on what Canadians do?

Wonder if the chinese "purchase" of a Canadian Oil Co. (Nexen) could possibly benefit Canadians? China's delivery system will go through BC and we all know it! This is crazy.

This stuff stinks at every angle. Some common sense would be useful from time to time.

Klick, 10% of the companies assests are in the US so chucky is looking to use political clout against china. It will not work as they could sell off the 10% in the US before selling the company to china.

As an outsider looking in, I have a thought from what might be a business aspect. A pipeline across the rockies is going to be uber expensive and the port problems on the coast really scarry. I get the feeling that this is all a PR scart tactic. It will not be built. What seems more likely is a pipeline that increased the existing keystone line capacity that traverses flat land to get the oil to the Gulf of Mexico. The XL line across the Oglala aquifer will not sell. I think all the proposals are just a cheap shot in hopes that the politicos buy the deal. We had the same situation here in the states with the shippement of extra large modules going up the Columbis/Snake rivers and up a 2 lane rpad along the Clearwater River. It would have made more sense to ship to Hudson's Bay and across flat land to Alberta. If the arctic ice gets any softer, the oil could go to tankers loading at Churchil. It is just a thought, the business world cares about the bottom line and what it can get away with.

At first glance it doesn't look any safer for the steelhead habitat and tributaries we're interested in protecting.

No oil industry experience or expertise, no financial backing and no oil industry support....
