Hardy 3 7/8 Perfect Valuation

Hi Guys:

I am the trustee of the estate of one of my old fishing pals. I need to value and then sell his 3 7/8 Perfect and 2 extra spools. Can you point me to a website or two, preferably, that I could send some pictures to and get a valuation for these items?

He was 83 and bought the cheapest fishing gear he could find, so I am guessing that it was his mother's. Shows some wear on the outer edge of the frame, clear agate guide and what appears to be the original foot. I know just enough to know that I don't know enough.

I've searched this site and the web and am overwhelmed by the volume of information and so thought you might help me narrow down my search.

Thank you,

Mark

If you put a picture on here, I'm sure people would be willing to value it for you. Dutchie should be able to help you out. If you'd like some other opinions send me a PM and I can point you to some other people as well

To do it right you should send to me and I will test it extensively in all types of rivers and conditions. This should take me no longer than say 10 years or so, then and only then, I will return it only after being threatened with legal action and will provide you with the valuation you require.

Best, Pete.

Google Clark's classis fly rod forum. It recently changed but you should find it. Check the reels section. Expect you will probably get an offer or so as well. You must post pics if you want an accurate appraisal the description above wont get anybody in the ball park.

As the trustee, you would like an expert and supportable valuation. I moved recently and changed home insurance coverage. My new company insisted on a professional valuation of my fly tackle, and I was required to take the ENTIRE pile to a fellow who is licensed and certified - he has to be able to testify as an expert in court. Ask your own insurance company or agent. The estate will pay for the valuation, and you will have a real value for your file.

Thanks for the input

I will post pictures on Monday. Reel is at the office and I'll have to take the SLR up there to shoot some photos. Once I know the value I will post here in the classifieds to give you guys first shot at it.

Buff: Thank you. We did that with the 9-28 ga. doubles that he owned. The estate is not taxable so my only concern is getting a fair deal for the widow. The price I sell it for will be the valuation we use on the 706 since we are talking hundreds and not thousands of dollars.

Anyone else please chime in. Thank you all for your input.
