Skater with a little extra

I've not done many of these so I would like any advice on how to improve it's skating ability and in general clean things up if worthwhile.

One thought I've had is would it be better to trim the body size down because it will be on the surface anyway and this would make it more castable? But then I've had the other thought that the body size could be useful if I twiched it some because it would create more water disturbance? Ultimately water testing through trial and error and finding the type of action that is being sought after is probably the best thing to do. However I thought I would share this and seek any input from your own experience and testing you may have done.

I didn't think about taking an under body photo but if it would be good to see / is a key factor in skating properly I will take and add one. Maybe I need to trim the hair on the underside completely so it's plained out and even entirely? Appreciate it. Thanks

In my opinion you will need to trim the underside flat at the very least. The biggest problem you will have with the excess material is the fly will spin and you will get line twist. With that much material this will happen in the air while casting and in the water as it is skating.
The fly will skate like no other with all that deer hair, but trimming it up will make it more effective, easier to cast and will get rid of the line twist.
