ELF running line back end loop feedback?

I just got my SGS ELF running line and i can't wait to use it ! But it came without a back end loop. I'm just wondering if the method I am "thinking" of using will have enough strength and if it will affect how smooth the loops are ? For the backing loop I have always just made a big loop using a surgeon's knot with a big enough loop for the reel ?

Although I have never made a loop in either line or running line after searching through other threads the one I seem to be most comfortable attempting would be this method of a whipped loop ? It seems to be pretty simple just not sure how affective it might be? ::

The running line is #30 ELF I am a bit nervous making my own loop for the first time as I want it to hold up when that first big fish takes me into my backing !!

Any comments or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
