Serious Stuff in the Pond
Seems like there are more serious covert-ops folks showing at the pond these days. It portends record breaking events in April; Impressive, Most Impressive!

Iron Sharpens Iron
Isn't it great? Just when you think there is a skill plateau, someone jumps right over it. It's clear there are a lot of passionate casters here and abroad working hard to be the very best they can be and I think that makes us all better in the end. It is addictive to play the game and be in the company of like minded friends.

I am very happy'll all see. I will enjoy every minute spent with you. Vadim and I arrive on April 16th to you in the evening. At the World Championships in Norway, I was the last, it was fun.

Kluev, I am looking forward to meeting you and Vadim. You will make friendships that will last a lifetime. Even though it is a competition I think you will find everyone to be helpful and eager to help a fellow competitor.
See you in a few weeks. Gene

My dearest Molly,
You start your day off in an amazing way! I am very jealous that you get coffee at simple pleasures. I didn't see a picture of the breakfast burrito. Did you woof that done before the picture? Gary |

The Knut Syrstad Trophy
To recognize what Knut brings to the sport of spey casting, and to Spey-O-Rama, the Board of Directors of the Golden Gate Angling and Casting Club have named the trophy for the longest cast " The Knut Syrstad Trophy" .

"The Knut Syrstad Trophy" Good Job Molly, thank you!! As you said yourself too many trophies celebrate the past, this represents the here and now. In the casting scene Knut is a living legend, the best of the best and that is fact, he just ain't had the good fortune we all have taken for granted and that's good health. A very commendable gesture by the GGACC board of directors, thank you. James Chalmers. |

Early spring day?
Last years women's champion, Whitney, practicing a few weeks ago.
(Here's hoping that all competitors get a nice break in the weather and the rivers thaw, soon). http://s1213.photobucket.com/albums/...ctice_Whit.mp4 Ant

Floating line testing
In answer to a question from one contestant, head judge Glen Nagumo states the following regarding the floating line requirement.
------------------------ From Chief Judge Glen Nagumo On the floating line question the requirement is that the line should float. As we all know as lines get older some of the line like the tip section will absorb water and start to sink. Casting the line out before the start to check is a simple way to check. I believe that the vast majority of the line should float. The tip due to use and or age may not be as buoyant as the rest of the line. Each competitor's line will be cast in the water, probably while on deck, to see that the line floats. Testing time period is to be determined.
