Feather Merchant size 8

Got a new old book at Idaho Falls that has a pile of old steelhead patterns in it.

This is a Ted Trueblood pattern it didn't give a date like most of the patterns

Hope you all like.

The hook seems huge after tying size 20 and 22 trout flys all day

Rocky

Nice fly Rocky ........... Too bad that The Payette doesn't get a run anymore, you could swing that fly on Truebloods river. Dave

Rocky has a Beautiful fly here

This has peaked my interest. You mention anadromous runs on the Payette. What do you know of fishing literature detailing those now lost runs. Patterns fished, locals, stories etc. I would really like to know this part of the history of a river I raft and swim in regularly.

Thanks!

Hi Mike ......... I am by far no expert, but I was told and have read in the past that Ted is from the Nampa/Caldwell area and his home river that he fished the most, but wouldn't write about was The Payette. It is a beautiful river ......... and all of those rivers in the Western Idaho used to hold Steelhead before the dams. Even the Boise used to have Steelhead and Salmon running through it. Dave

This one really works for me Rocky. A great look, accompanied by excellent tying.

great tie!
I have been tying smaller trout flies to for the march browns on west side of the hill... size 14 is hard for my block fingers let alone a 22 that takes some serious skill!
