First shot at marrying wings

Well, the other night since we were beat up by the river I found myself in my sweats tying on Chris's vice. I must admit, it felt a little wierd at first, but quickly I found the groove. This is my first built wing and it was indeed pretty cool to slow down and get really detailed. Critique is always welcomed and encouraged, but I will make a disclaimer that Iw as following no pattern what so ever and sort of just "freestyling"

I got the sun lined up pretty good !!!!

I agree with Adrian , good tying !! Great colours !!

You can really see the absence of the tail . With this style , a tail adds to balance , flow of materials so to speak . And it would be up to the tyer , when in "freestyle" , what to use as a tail ..... either simplistic or multi-stage . Certain styles require certain absolutes .

I understand what the term "freestyle" means and I'm in no way trying to tell you how and what to tie . Nor am I trying to offend at all .

Thank you for the kind words guys, and Mike no offense taken as I encourage critique!! One can only wish to tie as nice as you or Adrian

I'm glad Kyle that you are not offended
If you have another look at that photo you took river-side , imagine a tail of either GP crest veiled with GP tippet or barred woodduck . Or even better a LA spike !!

This pattern has major potential in my books !! Great fish catching colours , fashioned in a classic style .
It truely is my kind of fly

I would really like to see how you evolve this fly ..... I may have to give it a go as well

Kyle , I know you wanted to see a variation , here's a quicky that I did after work . Not sure if I did it justice .... or if I got the colour right ?? I'm guessing now that you had more of a red colour ???

I'll tie up another ......
