Yeah, I saw this as well...not sure I'd like a metal swival going through my guides; esp when fighting a decent fish....but, I'm sure the guys from the Welche's shop have thought of that. Wonder what pound-strength those swivals are? Stainless steel?

My thoughts exactly. It says that they are tested up to 30# of pressure and have been tested for a while on steehead. Not sure of what they are made of, good question. If the swivel is attached between only the head and running line, my guess is that it wouldn't be through your guides until the fish was within safe reach so it wouldn't really be a guide factor?

I knwo they just came out--has anyone tried one yet????

Yet another misnoma

Shooting line/running line on the back of a 'head' does NOT constitute a "Spey" line - such is a Shooting head system eg Scandinavian or Skagit.

Spey casting (singles & doubles) impart very little if any twist to the line during casting all day, or all week, and my 'on-water' experience of such Spey casts over the past 30+ years has required ZERO untwisting of Spey lines.

Similarly, little twists or torsion occurs with Scandi casting.

The casting torsion alluded to is imparted with several of the Skagit casts.

So, such a device which purports to relieve or prevent twists in the running line should then more properly called Josh's AntiRevolution Skagit Swivel, but hey! "Spey" sounds much more 'sexy' and may result in WaaaaY more sales!!

unneccesary

Mike makes and excellent point

i just saw this today on there website to and i just think its unneccesary

ive never had to deal with any twists, maybe alittle bit with slickshooter (cause its slightly flat not round) but even then its not significant to affect my casting

not to mention what would happen if the swivel got damaged by hitting a rock or something, you would say good but to your skagit/scandi head........ and there goes your whole trip. all because of alittle line twist that was bugging you

just gives you something else to think about on the water, and would like to think about fishing instead of "i wonder if ill loose my head on this cast?"

my 2 cents

Funny--I always think that about all of my gear--the convenient welded loops, my own knots, fly hooks, my
rod, sink tips, and leader strength. I guess it's something we all have just gotten used to and don't think about any longer? I have had all of the above fail at some point yet I still use the stuff...

i think about those things too because they are necessary,

You till use the stuff because its necessary, a "AntiRevoloution thingamabob" isn't necessary, just my opinion. i have never tried one of these contraptions before so i am just speculating.

$9.95 for a crane swivel (around $9.00/100) and two chunks of flyline with welded loops??? More power to those guys, hope they sell a million of them......
