TFO Deer Creek 12'6" 4/5 with Carron

I have seen that the Carron Jetstream Trout lines
Have a head close to 50'. I think they coud be interesting
for troutspey rods. Have anyone give them a try?

I would first check the total head weight of these lines (not at AFTMA 30ft) at the 50ft mark. Please let us know what you discover.

Enjoy fishing the TFO Deer Creek 12'6" 4/5 rod,,, my preferred line weight is a Scandi Compact 240gr.

I would not go over about 270gr with this rod,, it becomes too mushy and the tip will bounce.

Regards,
FK

Ahem, what FK means to say is dont go over 270 grains unless you are shooting big coneheads then 300 is the max limit with a 1.5ips poly 10ft attached.

I've tried the 8wt line on my 7wt single for spey casts, found the front taper too fine to turn over flies larger than size 6 with out over casting. Polytips are out of the question. I've since lined up with a beulah switch line and fine it much more fun.

I thought about the carron line because the recomended
CND GPS 4/5 is hard to get on this side of the pond.
In the moment I'am fishing a 40+ #6 and a Guideline Pounch #7
but I'am looking for something longer. Normaly I fisch flies like
Peter Ross or the Butcher size 10 - 14 for wetswing.

On my TFO Switch, Deer Creek 500/700gn I use a 45' 725 gn SA S7 head and it works.
I haven't used anything shorter or longer.
Cheers Maxg.

Hard to get on this side now I wish someone would build a nice short head speyline for 4/5 class rods. Not much out there..

I have a different rod but shopping same line. In liu of GPS 4/5 I'm looking hard at a 4/5 Ballistic Vector. Approx 42' 350gr. 4/5 has finer running line than the 5/6 which is a good feature in my book.

F Krow, any thoughts on above line for DC 12'6" 4/5? More length tolerates more grains.
