Orange/black intruder in the tank

Video of a 3 inch orange and black intruder style steelhead fly tied on a Waddington-style wire shank with no. 4 Owner hook monofilament attachment, lead eyes, palmer marabou, Schlappen collar, orange dyed grizzly wings, and ostrich/flashbou over.

In the testing tank at about 1.5 feet per second water velocity.

sweet

It looked so good I lunged at the computer out of instinct!

Seriously, it looked really nice. This leads me to a question:

When deciding between waddington shanks and tubes, what factors need to be considered?

And Second, on waddington tubes, is anyone using split rings to attach the trailing hook? I've seen firewire, shock tippet wire, maxima and junction tubing, but never a split ring... just wondering out loud.
